General Dentistry

We recommend that clients visit us at regular 6 monthly intervals so that we may nip any foreseeable problems in the bud.

Your exam and check will involve charting both the teeth present and the health of your gums. Gentle probing will reveal any ‘pockets’ or problems with attachment of the gums to the teeth  - an indicator of gum disease or periodontits.

Xrays will be advised on each side of the mouth - once every 2 years. We have access to OPG full mouth Xray if necessary for wisdom teeth or orthodontic diagnostics.

We also recommend a scale and polish every 6 months. This will usually involve an ‘ultrasonic’ clean followed by a spearmint slurry of fine polishing paste that is applied by a tiny electric brush. This will remove any hardened bacteria (Tartar or Calculus). If allowed to remain can cause gum retreat, or decay.

Finally – a special fluoride paint will be applied to your cleaned and polished teeth so as to enhance the mineralization of the tooth surfaces. This will mean
 ‘Tougher Teeth’.
